Yesterday Apple released a new version of their Final Cut suite – Final Cut Studio 3. The new version includes the following updates:

Final Cut Pro <strike>6.06</strike> 7

Compressor <strike>3.0.5</strike> 3.5

One notable improvement – Final Cut 7 now support burning Blu-Ray discs! However, strangley, Blu-ray support is omitted from DVD-Studio Pro 4.

Also interesting to note, if you are able to obtain the upgrade package for FCS3 or FCP7, then you can use your existing FCS2 or FCP6 serial number.

I’ve been hunting around for ways to listen to my favourite radio station from downunder, Triple J, on my new 3g iPhone. Surprisingly all I could find was this post that ends in failure.

Well, after some experimenting I have a working solution and it’s free! The only drawback is at this stage I can only get it working with Wi-Fi (and not 3G), however this means it should also work on an iPod Touch.
Here are the steps:

Download FStream from the AppStore

Once installed, open FStream and add a new favourite using this address: http://www.abc.net.au/streaming/triplej/triplej.m3u

Voila! You should now be able to listen to your favourite Aussie twang wherever you might be on the planet.

If you want to add the other stations you ca see in my screen grab, then here’s the URL’s you’ll need (note BBC only works in the UK)

BBC Radio 1 : http://www.bbc.co.uk/radio1/wm_asx/aod/radio1.asx

BBC Radio 2 : http://www.bbc.co.uk/radio1/wm_asx/aod/radio1.asx

2MMM Sydney : mms://66.70.119.243/2mmm

I like it not only because retro styled flick-clocks are back in fashion, but also because it’s both beautiful and practical. Best of all it’s free!
